The Foscarini Birdie Table Lamp, designed by Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba for the Birdie range, reinterprets the classic lampshade into a contemporary, nature-inspired table lamp. The design provides diffused illumination suited to bedside, side-table and desk use.

Formally the lamp combines a slightly conical, translucent shade with a slender vertical stem and a flat circular base. The branch-like protrusion below the shade acts as an integrated tactile control and helps define the lamp's sculptural silhouette. The Birdie is offered in Copper, Grey, Graphite and White, and is available in two sizes (Grande and Piccola).

Construction combines a die-cast zinc alloy base and a steel rod, both liquid coated, with an opaline internal diffuser and a translucent external polycarbonate diffuser. A transparent power cord connects at the base and the wide base provides stable support for the slim upper structure.

The lampshade and internal opaline diffuser are designed to spread light evenly: the lamp directs light downwards while also suffusing its surroundings for a calm ambient effect. Select versions include a branch-shaped touch-dimmer for variable output; where a non-dimmable version is supplied, the on/off switch is located on the transparent cable.
