Flos Parentesi Floor Lamp, designed by Achille Castiglioni, is a ceiling-to-floor adjustable lamp that provides direct, directional light. The Parentesi's slim cable and visible mechanics express a minimalist, industrial intent while delivering practical task illumination.

The lamp's form is defined by a painted or nickel-plated shaped steel tube that threads onto a tensioned vertical steel cable; the tube slides up and down to set height. The Parentesi is offered in Nickel, Red, Black and White, allowing straightforward coordination with contemporary interiors.

Construction combines a thin steel suspension cable with a shaped steel tube, an injection-moulded black elastomer lamp head that houses the switch, and a cast-iron counterweight encased in a silicone sheath. The visible power cord hangs from the lamp-holder and runs to the floor-mounted plug; the system is finished in a matte palette with a silvered reflector as a visual contrast.

Light is delivered as strong, direct illumination via a large exposed reflector bulb (commonly an R125), making the Parentesi suitable for task or accent applications where a concentrated beam is required. The head can be rotated and tilted on the tube to aim light precisely, while height is adjusted by sliding the tube along the cable.
