Flos In Vitro Unplugged Portable Lantern from the In Vitro range by Flos is a cordless outdoor light that combines a laboratory-inspired form with considered outdoor performance. The piece carries the range’s distinctive cage-and-capsule silhouette and is shown with a contrasting carry handle, reflecting the range’s portable intent.

The design uses a slender, cylindrical frame with a central rounded diffuser protected by transparent borosilicate glass. The light is offered in a wide range of finishes and the portable version includes a looped handle for transport or hanging, creating a flexible accent for terraces, patios and covered outdoor settings.

Structurally the lantern is made from die‑cast and extruded aluminium treated with a chemical conversion process and finished in a powder coat to resist atmospheric agents. The inner capsule contains an opalescent diffuser integrated into the head while the outer shell is protected by borosilicate glass; care should be taken to avoid damaging the powder coating during installation or maintenance.

Light is delivered by an integrated LED using Edge Lighting technology for uniform emission. The spec for this version is 124lm at 3000K with CRI >90 and a beam angle of 106°. The unit includes an internal dimmer driver (5/100–240 V/50–60 Hz) with an optical touch sensor on the head for four-step brightness control: 100% → 50% → 3% → OFF.

The portable lantern is rechargeable via the supplied 120 cm micro USB‑C cable and provides up to six hours continuous operation on a single charge. A charger with interchangeable EUR, UK and USA plugs is supplied (charger rated IP20). The product carries a two-year manufacturer warranty.
