STORY

The Visual Comfort Utopia Wall Sconce is a decorative indoor wall light from Visual Comfort's Utopia range, created in collaboration with designer Kelly Wearstler. The design pairs a tall, tapered conical glass shade with a sculptural metal backplate to deliver considered, upward-directed illumination for interior schemes.

The sconce emphasises contrast between a luminous white frosted (opal) glass cone and a dark, textured metal foundation. The conical shade is wider at the top and tapers towards the base; the range is offered in Gilded, Aged Iron and Polished Nickel finishes.

Construction highlights include a rounded rectangular backplate with a concave, scooped centre that houses a ribbed metal cup supporting the glass shade. Metal surfaces display a dense, radiating striated pattern that echoes topographic lines for a handcrafted, tactile quality.

The opal/frosted glass softens the internal bulb for diffused, low‑glare light. The fixture is designed for vertical wall mounting with the light source orientated upwards, creating gentle ambience and balanced shadow without direct glare.
