STORY

Visual Comfort Petrel Picture Light, designed by Ian K. Fowler for Visual Comfort, is a wall-mounted picture light created to provide considered, directional illumination for artwork and wall displays.

The Petrel adopts a minimalist, architectural form: a wedge-shaped horizontal head that slants downward and a slim rectangular backplate joined by a single straight support arm. It is offered in Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass, Polished Nickel and Bronze, and in Small, Medium, Large and Extra-Large sizes.

Constructed from metal with a fine, linear brushed texture, the unit presents a low-profile silhouette and a hand-applied living finish that yields subtle highlights and depth. The flat backplate provides a clean mounting point for a restrained, contemporary look.

The head is angled to project light on a downward diagonal, optimised for illuminating frames while reducing glare for the viewer. The underside contains the lamp housing, shielded from direct sight. The Petrel functions as a task or accent fitting to evenly wash artwork with light.

The Petrel carries an IP20 rating and is intended for dry, interior spaces. Product variants may differ in lamp and driver inclusion and dimming compatibility; check the specific variant details for lamp type, transformer or driver information. A 1 year manufacturer warranty is provided.
