STORY

The Visual Comfort Oscar Large Sculpted Floor Lamp, designed by Barbara Barry for the Oscar range, is a considered floor light that uses simple circular forms and subtle proportions to create a calm presence. The design pairs a tall, tapering metal stem with a substantial drum shade to deliver ambient interior light.

The lamp’s silhouette is deliberately minimalist: a slender, vertically tapered stem rising from a wide, disc-shaped base supports a slightly tapered off-white linen drum shade. The Oscar is offered in Aged Iron and Plaster White finishes, allowing the piece to read either sculptural or softly neutral within a scheme.

Construction is grounded in tactile materials. The stem and spun, disc-shaped base are metal with a dark, matte textured finish that suggests a handcrafted surface. The shade is linen-based, chosen to diffuse light and introduce a warm, softened glow into the room.

Light is delivered as ambient illumination through the linen shade, which reduces glare and creates balanced, warm ambience suitable for living rooms, bedrooms and reception spaces. The wide, flared base provides low-centre-of-gravity stability for the tall fixture, and a dark power cord emerges discreetly from the base edge.
