STORY

Visual Comfort Lorford Semi-Flush Ceiling Light, designed by Chapman & Myers, pairs aged iron metalwork with an antiqued mercury glass bowl to create a transitional, decorative ceiling fitting intended for ambient overhead illumination.

The design centres on a wide, bowl-shaped glass shade with a rounded bottom set into a flat metal rim. A secondary flat circular glass disc sits above the bowl, and an arched bail-style handle links the rim to the central stem, giving a refined nod to 19th-century lantern forms.

Construction combines a textured aged iron finish on the metal frame with a heavy, mottled antiqued mercury glass bowl. The frame includes a circular ceiling canopy, a central vertical stem and small decorative ball finials that secure the arched frame to the rim.

Light is delivered by multiple internal lamps (three are visible through the translucent mercury glass). The antiqued mercury finish moderates and mutes the lamp glow, producing a softly mottled reflection that suits living rooms, hallways and bedrooms where ambient atmosphere is the priority.

The fixture uses a semi-flush mounting system: the canopy sits against the ceiling and the body is suspended a short distance below by the central stem.
