STORY

The Visual Comfort Lorford Semi‑Flush Ceiling Light, designed by Chapman & Myers, is a modern interpretation of 19th‑century forms. The Lorford pairs a wide, shallow bowl of antiqued mercury glass with dark, aged‑iron metalwork to bring quiet refinement to contemporary interiors.

The fixture’s form is defined by an elegantly rounded, bowl‑shaped shade suspended a short distance below the ceiling by a central downrod. A textured, hammered support ring and a tiered circular canopy give the fitting visual weight without increasing its drop.

Construction combines aged‑iron metal components with an antiqued mercury glass diffuser. The glass has a mottled, distressed finish that allows warmer, translucent areas to show through; two small spherical finials secure the bowl to the metal ring as a subtle decorative detail.
