STORY

The Visual Comfort Lorford Wall Sconce, designed by Chapman & Myers, is an elongated cylindrical lantern-style wall light that pairs a textured aged-iron frame with antiqued mercury glass. The Lorford is intended as a decorative interior wall sconce to provide gently diffused ambient illumination.

Formally the piece references 19th-century industrial lanterns while adopting a contemporary, capsule-like silhouette. A vertical mounting plate and curved support arm carry a semi-circular metal arch and a suspended cylindrical shade with a rounded, bullet-shaped base. A clear horizontal glass disk on the central stem and a horizontal metal band with two spherical knobs add layered decorative detail.

Construction combines a dark-toned, textured metal frame with a mottled antiqued mercury glass shade. The glass has a distressed, metallic surface that softens and fragments the light, contrasting with the rigid iron structure for considered balance between material textures.

An internal light source sits within the antiqued glass shade so the fitting delivers a warm, glowing ambient effect rather than direct task illumination.
