STORY

The Visual Comfort Halwell Picture Light, designed by Chapman & Myers, is a wall-mounted picture light that blends traditional gallery form with a tactile woven overlay. Its mix of metal and rattan-like texture gives it a considered, design-led presence for illuminating artwork and wall-hung displays.

Formally the fitting uses a long cylindrical shade with a D-shaped profile that is flat on its underside to direct light downward. A rectangular backplate and single horizontal arm provide a restrained, architectural silhouette while the knuckle joint at the head allows final aiming of the beam.

Construction is metal with a woven fibre overlay applied to the central panel of the backplate, part of the support arm and the outer surface of the shade. Brushed brass metalwork is used for the backplate trim, mounting collar, arm joints and shade end caps, emphasising the mixed-material aesthetic.

The fitting is specified to deliver focused, downward-facing illumination suitable for highlighting pictures and displays. The flat bottom of the D-profile shade concentrates emission below the head, and the adjustable joint allows the beam to be steered to suit the artwork.

Installation uses the rectangular backplate as the wall-mounting base. The fixture is rated IP20 and intended for interior use. A one-year manufacturer warranty is provided; confirm lamp, driver and dimming compatibility with product details or our project team when specifying.
