STORY

The Visual Comfort Dessau Picture Light, designed by Sean Lavin, is a pared-back wall-mounted picture light that uses metal construction and a slender linear head to illuminate artwork, mirrors and framed photography.

The form is architectural and minimal: a long, slim light bar set on a single, angled support that meets a rectangular backplate. It is offered in Nightshade Black, Polished Nickel, Natural Brass and Dark Bronze, and comes in both Large and Small sizes to suit different artwork scales.

Construction is metal throughout with a low-profile silhouette and a translucent white diffuser running the length of the bar. The example shown in Nightshade Black demonstrates the fixture’s unobtrusive presence and clean, hardware-free aesthetic.

An integrated light source sits along the underside of the bar to deliver a wide, even wash of light directly onto the surface below; the fitting is specified with a high colour rendering index (CRI 90) for accurate colour reproduction. The cantilevered head provides clearance for frames and decorative objects so the light falls evenly across the subject.

The rectangular backplate houses the electrical connections and secures the cantilevered arm to the wall. The product is IP20-rated for interior, dry locations.
