STORY

The Visual Comfort Desmond Pendant, designed by Chapman & Myers, is an open‑cage ceiling pendant that references Diego Giacometti's furniture. The Desmond's curvilinear, oval silhouette and sculptural loops create a distinct presence suited to dining rooms and kitchen islands.

The pendant uses a minimalist geometric frame around a traditional central candelabra; it is offered in Aged Iron and Gild finishes. The open, oval cage and visible candle sleeves give the piece a transitional character that complements both classic and contemporary schemes.

Constructed from metal, the Desmond shows a hand‑textured, hammered surface that lends a crafted quality to the finish. The fitting suspends from a metal chain and connects to a stepped, circular canopy for straightforward ceiling mounting.

Light is delivered by a central cluster of four upward‑facing E14 candelabra lamps mounted on a spherical hub with extending arms. The open-frame design allows an unobstructed spread of ambient light, making it appropriate for general lighting above dining tables and kitchen islands.

Technical highlights: overall height 73cm, width 53.3cm, 14cm round canopy, chain length 6', weight 8.2 kg. The pendant takes four E14 candelabra lamps (max 40W each), is rated IP20 and Class I (requires an earth connection). Dimming requires compatible E14 dimmable lamps and a suitable wall dimmer — check lamp specifications for compatibility.
