STORY

The Visual Comfort Darlana Pendant Lantern, designed by Chapman & Myers, is a large, lantern-style ceiling pendant in the Darlana range. With a measured height of 86.4cm and a width of 61cm, it is intended to act as an ambient focal light in bedrooms, living rooms and over dining tables.

Formally the Darlana is an open, geometric lantern: a square base that tapers as it rises into a four-sided pyramid top capped by a triangular hanging loop. The design is glass-free and emphasises architectural lines and slightly offset corners; it is offered in Polished Nickel, Gilded Iron and Aged Iron finishes.

Constructed from metal, the fixture is finished with a textured frame and a circular ceiling canopy (19cm diameter). Suspension is via a metal chain (6' length) and the fitting weighs 8.2 kg, so its presence is both substantial and intentionally structural.

Light is delivered from five E14 candelabra sockets mounted on a central stem, producing an unobstructed, ambient glow through the open frame — a configuration well suited to providing balanced general illumination and creating atmosphere without excessive shadowing. The glass-free design also allows straightforward bulb replacement and cleaning.

Practical notes: this fitting is IP20 and Class I, intended for interior use only. It requires five E14 candelabra lamps (select lamp type to suit desired warmth and output) and will need a suitably rated ceiling fixing given the 8.2 kg weight. A one-year manufacturer warranty is supplied.
