Flos Arco Floor Lamp

Flos Arco Floor Lamp, designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962, is an iconic arc floor lamp that brings direct overhead light with a sculptural presence. The design pairs a solid Carrara marble counterweight with a long, telescopic stainless steel arm to position light away from its base.

The lamp's form is defined by a vertical section that transitions into a broad semi-circular arc. The telescopic stem allows height adjustment of the arc and the swivelling reflector directs the beam where required, making the lamp expressive yet purposeful in living rooms and large-plan spaces.

Construction is resolutely material-led: a solid rectangular white Carrara marble base with natural grey veining anchors the piece, while a satin-finish stainless steel stem provides strength and restraint. The light head is pressed, polished and zapon-varnished aluminium with a perforated top for ventilation and subtle light diffusion.

The Arco provides direct, focused illumination via its polished reflector and adjustable head. The product specification lists an integrated 28W LED producing approximately 1,224 lumens at 2,700K, offering warm, task-capable light. The heavy marble base acts as a counterweight to stabilise the extended arm and the reflector's swivel enables precise beam placement.

Practical notes: the lamp is IP20 and intended for indoor use. A circular hole is drilled through the marble base to aid handling of the heavy counterweight.
