Material specific lighting recipes

Different sculptural materials respond differently to light. Marble is translucent and benefits from diffuse, even lighting that allows its inner glow. Bronze is about surface and patina, revealed by raking light. Wood shows grain under oblique angles. This approach provides recipes tailored to material.

Medium Mid-Range
Approach Detail

MARBLE: Diffuse key with soft fill, ratio 2:1, warmer CCT (2700-3000K) to enhance warmth, some transmitted light possible for thin sections. BRONZE: Harder key at raking angle to reveal patina and texture, fill at 3:1 to 4:1 ratio, cooler CCT (3500K) to avoid warmth competing with material's natural color. WOOD: Raking light to show grain, warm CCT (2700K) to complement, moderate ratio 2:1 to 3:1. GLASS: Multiple sources from various angles to create internal reflections, background lighting to create silhouette. MIXED MEDIA: Compromise based on dominant material or zone lighting.

Key Fixtures

Adjustable fixtures with multiple beam options, tunable CCT capability, individual dimming, comprehensive fixture inventory.
