Foscarini Nuee Pendant

Foscarini Nuee Pendant, designed by Marc Newson, is a sculptural suspension lamp that reads as a floating cloud. The piece combines a lightweight, deformable white fabric shade with a considered lighting system to provide both ambient diffusion and directed light.

The shade is voluminous and irregular, formed from layered, crinkled three-dimensional fabric that can be subtly modelled during installation. The fitting is suspended from the ceiling canopy by three thin steel cables; transparent electrical cables rise from the shade to the canopy.

Internally the luminaire uses a liquid-coated steel and aluminium structure. Both the upper and lower LED boards sit on an aluminium disc that acts as a dissipator and the lower light is protected by a small PMMA disc. The diffuser consists of two layers of white PBT three-dimensional deformable fabric.

Light is delivered in two directions: internal LEDs illuminate the fabric to create a soft, diffused glow while a circular lower LED provides focused downward illumination through the translucent disc. The LEDs were purpose-designed by Foscarini to achieve high colour rendering and to retain a halogen-like colour temperature.

The Nuee attaches to a white ceiling canopy and is suspended by three steel cables; the electrical wiring is unipolar and transparent. An electric decentralisation kit is available. The fitting is rated IP20 for interior use and has a one-year manufacturer warranty; lead times should be confirmed with the sales department.
