The Flos Noctambule Floor Lamp is a modular floor lamp by Flos, designed by Konstantin Grcic for the Noctambule range. It presents a vertical column of transparent blown glass modules that reads as a refined lighting sculpture intended for ambient interior illumination.
Visually the lamp is formed from stacked cylindrical glass modules separated by opal ring diffusers. The design emphasises transparency and structure: the internal support spine and connection points are deliberately visible, while horizontal diffusing rings provide the points of light. The pictured configuration shows three stacked modules; the modular system allows the units to be interlinked to reach greater heights where required.
Construction combines clear blown glass with a flat die-cast aluminium base and rings. A hydroformed steel internal lateral arm carries the electrical components and stabilises the stack, while injection-moulded optical opal silicone outer ring diffusers produce soft, even emission between the glass elements.
Light is emitted from the horizontal opal rings situated between the glass modules and at the ends of the column, producing an ambient wash rather than a focused beam. The spec indicates 36W producing approximately 1093 lm at 2700K; the product contains an LED light source classified as energy class E and the LED is replaceable only by a qualified professional.
Practical notes: the lamp is supplied with a 2 metre power cable and a pedal-operated panel that dims the light from 10% to 100% in either direction. A wall-mounted power supply unit with interchangeable plugs is part of the specification. The fitting is IP20 and intended for indoor use only. Flos provides a two-year warranty.
At Lighting Design Online we treat the Noctambule as a design-first ambient solution. We can advise on specifying height, dimming integration and room placement so the lamp performs as intended in a scheme. Our guidance aims to give clarity and professional assurance when including sculptural, project-friendly lighting like this in a considered interior.
