STORY

The Visual Comfort Turlington XL Sconce, designed by Thomas O'Brien for the Turlington range, is an extra-long decorative wall light that pairs a refined linear silhouette with mid-century cues. Its dramatic vertical presence is intended for interior walls in hallways, entryways and living spaces.

A slender vertical rod links two diamond-shaped backplates while an elongated arm curves gently at its lower end. A conical, truncated metal shade is supported by a decorative Y-shaped brass bracket, producing a sculptural, two-tone composition.

The sconce is constructed entirely from metal, finished predominantly in matte black with polished brass accents on the socket, shade supports and mounting hardware. Small brass fasteners on the shade are visible details that reinforce the crafted aesthetic.

The opaque metal shade directs light primarily downwards, making the fitting well suited to accent and task illumination along circulation routes or flanking mirrors and artwork. Its length and form also introduce considered shadow and balance on a wall surface.
