STORY

The Visual Comfort Matthew Chandelier is a large pendant designed by Marie Flanigan for Visual Comfort. The Matthew range pairs a shallow circular metal drum with a stone‑textured diffuser; the large model measures 40 inches across and is intended to deliver broad ambient downward illumination for substantial interiors.

Formally the fitting combines a vertically reeded metal rim with a low‑profile circular drum and a three‑point chain suspension that creates a balanced triangular silhouette above the shade. The range is offered in Bronze and Soft Brass finishes and is available in Small, Medium and Large sizes.

The fixture is constructed around a metal frame and suspension hardware. The underside is a flat, translucent diffuser plate with natural grey and tan veining that resembles alabaster or marble. A matching circular canopy anchors the suspension to the ceiling.

The wide diffuser provides even, glare‑free light distribution, suggesting an internal array of sources that deliver ambient, downward illumination. Its 40‑inch span makes the fitting suitable for large rooms where a single architectural pendant can define the scheme.
