Visual Comfort Lorford Pendant

The Visual Comfort Lorford Pendant by Chapman & Myers is a bell-shaped lantern pendant that reinterprets 19th-century silhouettes in aged iron and antiqued mercury glass. Its refined, rounded form is intended for interior spaces such as kitchens and dining rooms where a considered pendant can provide both form and ambient light.

The design pairs a mottled, antiqued mercury glass shade with a dark, aged iron framework. A U-shaped yoke and horizontal glass plate sit above the bell shade, creating a distinctive layered silhouette. The Lorford is available in Gilded Iron and Aged Iron finishes to suit a range of schemes.

Constructed from metal and specialty glass, the pendant hangs from a circular metal canopy by a linked chain; the chain suspension allows adjustable hanging heights during installation. The glass finish is intentionally mottled to give surface depth and to modulate the appearance of the internal light sources.

Light is delivered by an internal cluster of candelabra-style lamps (four E14 sockets) that are partially obscured by the mercury glass, producing a softened, reflective glow. The open-top design and horizontal glass plate also allow some upward reflection, which helps balance ambient illumination and reduce direct glare.

Technical notes: overall height 60.96 cm, width 35.6 cm, canopy 14 cm round, chain length 6' (approximately 1.83 m), weight 6.4 kg. Fittings accept 4 × E14 candelabra lamps, maximum 60 W each. The product is Class I and has an IP20 rating, for indoor, dry-zone installation; installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Dimming is possible with compatible dimmable E14 lamps and a suitable mains dimmer.
