STORY

The Visual Comfort Loire Wall Sconce, designed by Aerin Lauder for the Loire range, pairs hand-blown glass with metal hardware to create a decorative wall light that reads as mid-century Italian elegance. Its layered disc silhouette is intended to provide diffused ambient illumination while acting as a sculptural wall element.

The design uses two overlapping glass discs — a smaller, convex front disc and a larger, flatter rear disc — to form a tiered profile that scatters light softly. The Loire is available in Polished Nickel and Gild finishes and offered with Clear Strie or White Strie glass.

Construction combines metal and hand-blown glass. The glass is treated with a white strié effect, producing internal, wispy swirl patterns that are unique to each piece. Metal components include a warm, polished mounting assembly and internal backplate that present a refined contrast to the organic glass texture.

Light is positioned behind the smaller front disc so the glass opacity softens and filters the output, producing gentle, ambient illumination rather than direct task light. The layered discs also help to reduce glare while maintaining an ethereal presence on the wall.

For installation the Loire is designed for direct wall mounting; the circular discs conceal the internal wiring and socket. The fitting carries an IP20 rating and a one-year manufacturer warranty.
