STORY

The Visual Comfort Katie Wall Sconce, designed by Thomas O'Brien for the Katie range, is a decorative interior wall light that pairs a slender cylindrical glass shade with a dark, hand‑applied metal backplate. It is intended for ambient or accent use in bedrooms and bathrooms when the appropriate IP option is specified.

The design features a tall, clear cylinder—available in White, Seeded and Clear glass—that hangs from a short arm and single chain link, giving the fitting a lantern‑inspired silhouette. The Katie sconce is offered in Polished Nickel, Bronze and Hand‑Rubbed Antique Brass finishes to suit a range of classic and contemporary schemes.

Construction is straightforward and purposeful: a circular backplate with a slightly domed centre mounts directly to a standard wall junction box, while the glass shade is suspended by a single heavy‑duty chain link and capped in metal. The shade is open at the bottom for easy access to the lamp and unobstructed downward light.

The exposed tubular bulb is a central aesthetic element, emphasised by the seeded glass that introduces subtle texture and warmth to the emitted light. Use the Katie sconce for localised ambient or accent illumination beside mirrors, beds or circulation spaces; mounting just above eye level is commonly recommended (roughly 60–65 in / 152–165 cm to the centre of the backplate when used beside mirrors).

Installation is by direct surface mounting to a wall junction box. The standard IP rating is IP20; an IP44 option is available on request for bathroom zones. Manufacturer warranty is 1 year. Bulb supply is not specified on the standard product sheet—confirm lamp type and compatibility at the point of order.
