Visual Comfort Calais Chandelier

The Visual Comfort Calais Chandelier, designed by Niermann Weeks, is a large-scale ceiling chandelier that reads as a sculptural centrepiece. Its sweeping feather-like arms and reflective glass elements suit dining rooms, entryways and other rooms that benefit from a considered primary light source.

The Calais is formed from six upward-sweeping arms composed of densely packed clear glass rods arranged like stylised feathers or palm fronds. It is offered in Burnished Silver Leaf and Gilded Iron finishes, allowing the piece to sit comfortably in both coastal-glam and transitional interiors.

The framework is a metal circular band finished in burnished silver leaf, with each feather arm built from hundreds of thin glass rods held by a fine wire framework. The chandelier is suspended by a multi-strand chain and ceiling canopy for a refined, slightly antiqued metallic presence.

Light is delivered by six upward-facing candle-style lamps housed in white cylindrical sleeves; the clear glass rods refract and diffuse the light to produce a subtle, shimmering ambience. The fixture functions as a primary ambient source and is particularly effective over dining tables when installed at the recommended heights.

Installation notes: the Calais includes an adjustable suspension chain and ceiling canopy for height customisation. It has an IP20 rating for indoor use. Bulbs are not supplied; an LED bulb option is available as an add-on. Please observe the suggested 30–36" clearance between the base of the chandelier and the surface of a dining table and choose a fixture width appropriate to your table diameter.
