STORY

The Visual Comfort Bayridge Pendant, designed by Chapman & Myers, is a ceiling-suspended pendant that pairs a mercury glass globe with an architectural demi‑sphere frame. The piece references the Lorford series in its material language and is intended to provide ambient illumination with a distinctive silhouette.

Its design balances industrial and refined cues: a mottled mercury-glass globe is cradled within a dark, aged iron demi‑sphere formed by a horizontal band and a semi‑circular arch. The range is available in Aged Iron and in two sizes — Large and Extra‑Large — allowing the Bayridge pendant to be used alone or in multiples over circulation spaces or dining tables.

Construction combines blown mercury glass and metalwork finished in a textured aged iron. Visible forged bolts at the joints and a small decorative finial at the globe base are both structural and decorative details, while a tiered circular canopy and chain complete the suspension system.

The mercury glass shade is deliberately semi‑translucent: it softens and textures the light, diffusing glare and creating a warm, layered ambience rather than a hard, direct beam. This makes the pendant well suited to ambient roles in entryways, dining rooms and kitchens where a balanced atmosphere is required.

The fixture includes a matching metal canopy that conceals the ceiling junction; the linked suspension chain permits height adjustment at installation. The pendant carries an IP20 rating and is therefore specified for indoor, dry locations. No claim is made about integrated LED or supplied drivers unless stated on the product variant.
