STORY

The Visual Comfort Astra Pendant, designed by Chapman & Myers, is a decorative ceiling pendant that reads as a sculptural centrepiece. Part of the Astra range, it uses metal construction and an organic silhouette to deliver ambient illumination and visual interest.

The pendant's form is composed of hundreds of thin metal rods that flare outward to form a wide, airy crown and taper into a bundled stem at the base. The transition from tight bundle to broad crown creates a sense of movement and a distinctive, natural profile.

Finished in a textured matte white, the Astra is made from metal and has a hand-crafted, highly detailed appearance born from its many individual rods. The fitting is suspended from a circular ceiling canopy by a matching white metal chain, which echoes the pendant's material and finish.

A central light source sits within the bundled base and directs light upward and outward through the gaps between the rods. The open-work construction produces complex patterns of light and shadow, making the pendant suitable as ambient illumination and a sculptural focal point in living spaces, dining rooms or entrance halls.

The Astra Pendant is rated IP20 and intended for interior, dry-zone use only. The chain suspension allows adjustable mounting heights to suit different ceiling levels.
