The Marset Mercer Surface Ceiling Light is a surface-mounted ceiling fixture that pairs a floating textile inner shade with a transparent blown-glass outer shell and an opal diffuser disc. The design clearly prioritises layered form to produce a refined ambient illumination rather than focused task light.

Formally the Mercer presents as a low-profile, cylindrical drum that sits close to the ceiling. A warm, tinted glass ring surrounds a vertically pleated inner shade; the ribbed texture is visible through the outer shell, creating visual depth and a rhythmic play of light and shadow.

Construction combines a textile inner shade, a transparent blown-glass outer ring and a flat translucent panel at the base to diffuse light downwards. The top measures Ø420mm, the base 440mm and the overall height is 176mm, giving a compact footprint suitable for standard ceiling heights.

Light is delivered as soft, even ambient illumination: the layered shades and opal bottom diffuser shield the internal source to minimise glare and balance warmth and clarity across the room. The Mercer is intended for interior ambient lighting from a fixed ceiling position.
