STORY

Lutron Radio Occupancy/Vacancy Ceiling Sensor by Lutron is a ceiling-mounted motion sensor from Lutron's Radio range, designed to integrate with lighting control systems. The device is intended for automatic on/off control of lighting based on room occupancy.

The sensor has a circular, disc-shaped, low-profile form with a central hemispherical, multi-faceted translucent lens that reads as a wide-angle detection window. The faceplate is embossed with the LUTRON name and presents a discreet, minimal aesthetic that blends into typical ceiling finishes.

Construction is predominantly matte white plastic with integral user controls on the faceplate. A dedicated Test button and a control button marked with a lightbulb icon provide on-site verification and basic manual override. A small aperture adjacent to the controls houses a status indicator LED.

The multi-faceted lens indicates a passive infrared sensing mechanism offering broad coverage for occupancy and vacancy detection. The sensor detects motion to trigger lighting circuits so lights can be switched on or off automatically as people enter or leave a space.

This ceiling-mounted unit is supplied as a control accessory rather than a light source; installers should integrate it with the appropriate Lutron Radio control system. Warranty varies by system: RA2 Select and RadioRA 3 products carry two years from date of shipment for residential applications. HomeWorks QS and HomeWorks warranties vary by age of installation as specified by Lutron. For commercial installations the warranty is limited to two years.
