STORY

The Foscarini Twiggy Lettura Floor Lamp, designed by Marc Newson for the Twiggy range, is a sculptural outdoor floor lamp conceived for reading and close seating. The design translates a formal sense of lightness into an outdoor-ready luminaire, offering direct downward illumination for task and ambient layering.

Its distinctive woven cylindrical diffuser is crafted from manually plied ribbons of fibreglass-based composite wrapped around a mould, creating a textured lattice that lets light filter through the sides while focusing primary output downwards. The lamp is offered in Carmine and Greige finishes, allowing a considered colour choice for exterior or interior schemes.

The slender vertical stem is made from the same fibreglass-based composite as the diffuser, set on a flat circular metal base finished in polyester powder coating for superior resistance to UV, weather and chemicals. A black neoprene-coated cable provides outdoor-suitable power connectivity.

Light is produced by multichip LEDs installed around the perimeter of an aluminium frame, which acts as a heat dissipator. A laser-engraved transparent PMMA sheet in the diffuser centre, together with an opaline PMMA disc, moderates glare and helps deliver comfortable downlight ideal for reading, while the woven surface creates a subtle interplay of light and shadow.

The lamp is IP65 rated for outdoor use and is supplied with a transformer on the cable, fitted with a Schuko plug and terminal board; there is no push-button panel. These details mean the fitting is ready for practical installation in exterior zones where a dedicated outdoor reading light is required. The manufacturer provides a one-year warranty.
