Foscarini Buds Table Lamp

The Foscarini Buds Table Lamp, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni as part of the Buds range, pairs a sculptural, elongated blown-glass diffuser with a crystal-clear PMMA base for considered interior lighting. The piece is intended as an ambient table lamp to introduce soft, warm atmosphere in living rooms, bedrooms and reception areas.

The design balances a voluptuous, glossy glass form with a minimalist transparent support so the diffuser appears to float. The Buds 1 version is offered in brown or warm white, both of which change subtly between on and off states, emphasising the lamp's crafted character.

The diffuser is hand-blown, cased and finished with a five-layer construction; an internal pale straw-yellow layer deepens the warmth of the light. The base is milled, mirror-polished PMMA and the glass is secured by a cup-shaped ring nut. A transparent cord runs from a discreet groove at the base.

Light is delivered as soft, diffused ambient illumination through the translucent shade while the open top also allows upward emission. The lamp leaves the bulb visible as an aesthetic element; Foscarini recommends a white-globe retrofit LED or fluorescent bulb with a 12 cm diameter for Buds 1 so the globe complements the form. The fitting is rated IP20 for indoor use.
