STORY

The Contardi Calypso Outdoor Ceiling Light is a decorative pendant from the Calypso range, designed in Italy for exterior ceilings. The design combines a bold, multi-coloured textile shade with a decorative suspension, and is specified for outdoor use with an IP65 rating.

Calypso’s form is multi-tiered and tapered, composed of several horizontal fabric bands that create a spinning-top silhouette. The palette and patterning — including dark tones, a thin yellow accent, vertical red-and-white stripes and a deep red band — make the fitting a confident decorative focal point. The range is offered in multiple variants.

The shade is built from layered textile fabrics described as waterproof, suspended on a thick twisted forest-green textile rope that finishes with a matching pom-pom and a polished metal stem with a brass-toned appearance. A clear faceted glass finial sits at the base of the shade as a decorative and light-refracting detail.

Light is delivered as soft, diffused ambient illumination through the layered fabric; the faceted glass element concentrates and refracts light downward while keeping the overall glow gentle.
