Astro Io Pendant

The Astro Io Pendant is a linear ceiling pendant from Astro's Io range. Handcrafted clear fluted glass forms a long horizontal tube that makes the glass the central design feature, while the luminaire provides suspended ambient illumination for dry, interior spaces.

Design intent focuses on clarity and texture: longitudinal ribs run the full length of the cylinder so the surface catches and refracts light, producing a measured play of light and shadow. Structural components are kept visually discreet to keep attention on the glass form.

Construction combines fluted clear glass with refined metal suspension components finished in a matte black. The fitting is suspended by two slender vertical cables that attach to subtle black fixtures on the upper side of the tube, giving a clean, minimal profile.

The pendant delivers even ambient illumination through the continuous glass tube; the fluted surface softens and scatters light to reduce glare and create atmospheric depth. The specification includes a high colour rendering (CRI 90) to ensure natural colour rendition in the lit space.

The asymmetric ceiling arrangement uses two different mounts — a small circular rose and a larger rectangular canopy. The larger rectangular canopy houses the electrical components and the driver that powers the internal light source. The luminaire is rated IP20 and is therefore intended for indoor, dry-zone use. A 3-year manufacturer warranty is provided.
