This approach uses carefully positioned pendant fixtures directly above each table, featuring high-CRI LED sources (CRI 95+, R9>50) at warm 2700K. The pendants create focused pools of light that make food colors pop naturally while flattering skin tones. Each table becomes its own illuminated stage.

Approach Detail

Select pendants with good optical control (40-60° beam) positioned 28-34" above table surface. Use 95+ CRI LEDs with strong R9 values for red meat and sauce rendering. Aim for 15-25 fc on table surface with 3:1 ratio to surrounding area. Always use dimmers rated for LED.

Food should appear vibrant with natural colors—red meats reading as rich burgundy, greens as fresh and vibrant. Surrounding dining room in relative darkness creates intimate pools. Use volumetric lighting to show light cone. Include soft shadows under plates indicating focused but not harsh light.
