Position lighting at floor level where sauna temperatures are significantly cooler (60-70C vs 80-100C at ceiling). Light washes up onto wood benches, creating warm glow without exposed high-temperature fixtures.

Approach Detail

Install sauna-rated linear fixtures (rated to 125C) in floor cove or behind lowest bench step. Light aims upward at 45 degree angle. 2700K amber preferred. All drivers MUST be external (in adjacent mechanical space). Use heat-resistant silicone cables for sauna penetration. Maximum 20W fixtures to limit heat contribution.

Designer Notes

Capture the wood grain beautifully lit from below. Warm amber glow on cedar or aspen. Upper reaches of sauna in relative darkness (where heat lives). Cozy, traditional feeling. Stones on heater catching glints of light.
