Shielded task led with audience wash

Separating the DJ's functional lighting from their stage presence lighting solves the glare problem. Small, shielded LED strips illuminate the mixer and laptop screens from angles invisible to the audience, while color wash fixtures make the DJ visible and dramatic to the crowd.

Medium Mid-Range
Approach Detail

Install small LED strip or gooseneck lights at equipment level, aimed at screens/mixer surface, with shields preventing any spill toward audience. Position RGBW wash or spot fixtures in front of and slightly above the DJ, aimed backward to light them for the crowd. DJ controls task lighting locally; show lighting is controlled by lighting operator. Consider adding backlighting (LED strip or small fixtures behind DJ) for silhouette effect.

Key Fixtures

Adjustable LED task lights (warm white, dimmable), RGBW wash fixtures for audience-facing illumination, optional backlight elements

Designer Notes

Render from dance floor looking at DJ booth. DJ clearly visible (dramatic side/back lighting creating silhouette effect), equipment screens not visible to camera, just the glow on DJ's face and hands. Time: peak set, 12:30am. The DJ as performer, framed in light.
