Proportional scale calculation

Proportional scale calculation

Proper chandelier sizing uses mathematical relationships between table size, room dimensions, and ceiling height. The classic formula (table length + width in inches = chandelier diameter) provides a starting point, with adjustments for room scale.

Medium Mid-Range
Approach Detail

Formula: (Table L + W in inches) = chandelier diameter in inches. For round tables: diameter x 0.5 to 0.75 = chandelier diameter. Hanging height: bottom of fixture 30-34" above table. For 9'+ ceilings, add 3" per additional foot of height. Round up rather than down for presence.

Key Fixtures

Appropriately scaled chandeliers from major manufacturers—size selection is key, not specific fixture

Designer Notes

RENDER GUIDANCE: Show chandelier properly proportioned to table below. Demonstrate correct hanging height with people seated. Include sight-line verification (heads should not block fixture, fixture should not block faces). Multiple examples with different table shapes.
