Zoned enclosure system

Each video work is placed within a semi-enclosed zone defined by light-absorbing partitions. The enclosure controls stray light, contains sound, and creates intimate viewing relationships. Zones can be sized from individual viewing booths to room-scale immersive spaces.

Medium Mid-Range
Approach Detail

Design enclosures with 75% or greater visual separation—openings for entry but walls blocking direct sightlines to adjacent works. Use matte black or dark grey fabric/acoustic panels for surfaces. Entry points positioned to prevent light leakage during transitions. Each zone has independent audio containment (absorption panels, directional speakers, or headphones). Size zones based on optimal viewing distance for each work. Consider visitor flow and queue management if works have different durations. Emergency egress maintained through all zones.

Key Fixtures

Modular partition system with acoustic treatment, independent audio systems per zone, zoned lighting control, light-lock entries.

Designer Notes

Plan view showing the zoned layout with partition positions and entry points. Render from inside a zone showing the intimate relationship with the screen, other works invisible. Include a detail of the light-lock entry arrangement.

Best For
Group exhibitions with multiple video works, permanent collection galleries with ongoing video displays, acoustic-sensitive installations.
